Riwaka Resurgence & Ngarua CaveJanuary 11, 2019 in New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C
My plan was to do a part of the Abel Tasman Coastal Walk today, but I got so many tips from a local at the campground that filled my hole day actually. He said I really must do all this thinks, so I did it!
And what should I say, they was awesome, all of them. 😊
My first stop was at the Riwaka Resurgence. After a short walk I came to the spring with krystal clear water. Such a beautiful place. The water is coming from a cave system in the Takaka Hills that I was also going to vidit, the Ngarua Caves.
It was a 45 min guided tour through the cave. Really impressive to see all the stalactites and stalagmites.
They found a lot of Moa bones in the caves. A Moa bird is a very big bird, like an Emu, that was used to live in New Zealand a few hundred years ago.
They was falling into some sink holes and then dying in the cave, because there was no way out of the cave at that time.
At the place we left the cave again was actually a part of the Hobbit movie filmed, is someone recognizing it? 🤔Read more
