Kenia - the case of the missing tourists

    June 3, 2017 in Kenya ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Interessant!

Arrived safely yesterday in in Nairobi Kenya. It is a bit strange here I was in the middle of Nairobi today, took some local busses and guess what there are no tourists. At least no white ones. I went to a outdoor museum where they show traditional tribal villages - a touristy place - and suddenly some white people. I went on to a market no white people at all!! Talked to some locals they told me tourists don't go out much of their hotels as Nairobi is just a stopover for safaris. Interesting!

One more thing on the way back I took a taxi as it was late . After hard bargaining I got a fair price. At least that is what I thought. Still paid more than any local would. During the whole ride the driver complainted about the price when that didn't work stopped and told me he wouldn't drive further unless I will pay him a higher price. Because we were somwhere where it wasnt safe, I felt I had no chance and I agreed and told him I will pay him the higher price but only at the destination. We arrived at my place and I asked him to drop me off in front of the gate and security. Then I handed him the original agreed price and when he got angry I told him I am not some stupid female he can cheat. Hah!!! He had no chance but to accept as security was standing next to me!

Will go on a 4 day safari tomorrow morning so won't have Internet access.

I will translate it into German some other time. Please whoever reads this and knows my parents to not tell/discuss the last part with them. I don't want them to worry. Needless to say I won't translate that part in German.
