📍 Octo the Crochet Octopus – My New Travel Buddy 🧶🐙
Amongst the castles, lochs, and wild Highland roads, a new character has joined the adventure: Octo, my freshly crocheted octopus. He’s small, colourful, and slightly wobbly on his tentacles, but he’s already become a proper mascot for life on the road.
Octo took pride of place in Vanilla, perching on the dash like he was keeping lookout. His button eyes seemed to follow the winding roads of the NC500, and his stitched smile never wavered, even when the mist rolled down over Bealach na Bà or when rain lashed across Loch Ness. There’s something about having a handmade little companion like this – it’s a reminder of home and creativity, even when you’re far out in the Highlands.
I couldn’t resist snapping a photo of him sitting against the backdrop of a loch, his yarn tentacles dangling like he was testing the waters. In a way, Octo has become a stand-in Nessie – a soft, colourful, land-dwelling cousin of the elusive monster.
✨ Highlight: Watching the sun dip over the mountains with Octo on the dash, silhouetted against the glow. It’s daft, but it felt like he’d officially been accepted into the Vanilla crew.Read more
