    April 9 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

Jill stayed home with the pets. I am at the Reno airport waiting for the flight the Denver. Although the parking lot was nearly full, bag check had no line and security was simplified. Just waiting for 4:04pm flight at gate C3.Read more

  • Santa Fe Airport

    April 9 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 59 °F

At Denver, I ate a Smash Burger and fries and boards the second flight. The flight arrived early. The airport is the same size as Lake Havasu City’s airport, one gate. Baggage claim was a breeze, since there is only one spot snd this was the only flight in at this time. Now to wait to be picked up by Uber..Read more

  • Workshop Day 1

    April 10 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 72 °F

The start time was 10 am, but I left early to make sure I could find the workshop location. After missing a turn, I found my way to the right building. Dana and Melody were there setting up. The other three students showed up over the next half hour or so. They are Lorain from Philidelphia, Susanne from Chicago, and Zoltan from Budapest, Hungary. We all worked on our first tri-color prints. They all got finished products, but I ruined mine on the third layer and had to start again. I will finish it tomorrow.Read more

  • Workshop Day 3

    April 12 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 81 °F

We continued to try to adjust prints started previously. I was not happy with the results, so i tried another image, Icelandic Dingy. Layering was Cyan, Yellow, and finally Magenta. Before the last layer, I was worried it was not working either, as the grasses were straw colored. But then the magenta pulled it all together. This process it not intended to produce perfect color match to reality. The number of variables is great and every print will be different somehow. The pigments used are watercolor, so the choice of pigments, mixing concentrations, brushing techniques, processing, etc, all contribute to tje variations between individual prints. But this process was I believe the earliest attempt to produce color print. The process dates back to 1855. That is at least 50 years before the development of color film.Read more

  • Flight Delayed

    April 13 in the United States ⋅ 🌬 72 °F

Well, the plane coming into Santa Fe that I was supposed to leave on came in late with a faulty engine sensor. The sensor issue is only concerning if flying in icy conditions. Unfortunately my connecting flight is in Denver and they HAVE icy conditions. So, I am now stuck at the airport in Santa Fe.

It is now 8:40 pm and United is bringing in another plane tonight to take some of us on to Denver, arriving after midnight. They gave me a hotel voucher and I am booked on a flight to Reno from Denver at 1150am.

  • Snow in Denver

    April 14 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 32 °F

Last night’s flight to Denver was bumpy for most of the way. As we were landing they made a single announcement about baggage, but as tired as I was I didn’t get most of it. The plane landed safely at 12:05am. So I went to baggage claim. There were four chairs (already occupied) for the entire baggage claim area the bag should have come to. After waiting 45 minutes, only one bag showed up and it wasn’t mine. I checked with the person on desk duty for United, but she couldn’t find it and said it was most likely scheduled to go on this morning’s flight. So I headed for the hotel they had arranged for us.
My head hit the pillow at 1:30 am and I tossed and turned for about an hour before falling asleep. The complimentary breakfast was less than excellent. They had instant oatmeal, but no hot water. There was no butter for the waffles. No eggs and sausage. No juice of any kind. These are all items available at the hotel in Santa Fe and most every hotel I have ever stayed in.
I checked the United app for my baggage and it did indicate it was checked through to Reno, so hopefully it will be there when I get there. Last night, I tried to check in for the flight, but the app wanted a credit card. But I don’t carry the online card. So I will have to check in when I get back to the airport.
I was able get my boarding pass with little difficulty. My backpack had to go through the scanner twice because they thought the misc chargers, cables and battery was a computer. But I had removed the laptop and iPad to a separate bin. After boarding the plane for Reno, I checked on the status of the baggage and found it had been loaded on my plane. Returning to Reno was uneventful. Home again!
