Oaxaca ist wirklich ein spezieller Ort - während ich von Parade zu Parade ziehe, kommt auch Zeit mit Menschen die ich hier getroffen habe nicht zu kurz. Reisende, aber auch Einheimische, die erzählen, was diese Tage für sie bedeuten. Gemeinsam probieren wir uns durch die lokale Küche: Mole in allen Varianten, Pan de Muerto nach Oaxaca-Art und verschiedene lokale Drinks (keiner weiss so genau, was es ist, aber es schmeckt)
Die Stadt ist im Feierfieber. Und das Schöne dabei ist: als Besucherin und Besucher ist man automatisch mittendrin statt nur dabei. Es entsteht diese seltene Mischung aus Nähe, Offenheit und Lebensfreude - ein Gefühl, das man kaum beschreiben kann, aber sofort spürt. Ein wahrhaft "once in a lifetime" - Erlebnis.

Oaxaca is truly a special place - as I move from parade to parade, I also spend time with people I have met here. Travellers, but also locals, who tell me what these days mean to them. Together we sample the local cuisine: mole in all its variations, Oaxaca-style pan de muerto and various local drinks (no one knows exactly what it is, but it tastes good).
The city is in a festive mood. And the nice thing is that as a visitor, you are automatically right in the middle of it all. There is a rare mixture of closeness, openness and joy of living - a feeling that is hard to describe, but immediately noticeable. A truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.Read more
