Wo der Döner seinen Anfang nahm

Kastamonu liegt ohnehin auf unserer Route - also der perfekte Ort für eine Essenspause. Und wenn man schon hier ist, kommt man an einer Spezialität nicht vorbei: Der Döner Kebab soll hier erfunden worden sein. Ob das wirklich stimmt, darüber mögen sich Historiker streiten. Uns reicht, dass er hervorragend schmeckt.
Ganz nebenbei entdecken wir auch noch die eindrucksvolle Festung oberhalb der Stadt. Auf den steilen Strassen hinauf sorgt Andi noch für etwas Unterhaltung. Mitten auf der Fahrbahn spaziert seelenruhig ein ganzer Schwarm Hühner umher. Für einen kurzen Moment sieht es so aus, als würde unser Abendessen gleich auf der Motorhaube mitfahren. Die Hühner bleiben allerdings völlig unbeeindruckt.
Deshalb:
- Döner: mit ohne alles
- Huhn: lieber lebend

Kastamonu is on our route anyway - so it’s the perfect place for a stop for lunch. And once you’re here, there’s one speciality you simply can’t miss: the döner kebab is said to have been invented here. Whether that’s really true is a matter for historians to debate. All that matters to us is that it tastes absolutely delicious.
Incidentally, we also discover the impressive fortress overlooking the town. On the steep roads leading up, Andi provides a bit of entertainment. Right in the middle of the road, a whole flock of chickens is strolling about, completely unfazed. For a brief moment, it looks as though our dinner is about to hitch a ride on the bonnet. The chickens, however, remain completely unimpressed.
