A Quick Stop in Amasra

Amasra ist zwar klein, blickt aber auf eine erstaunlich lange Geschichte zurück. Die Hafenstadt wechselte im Lauf der Jahrhunderte mehrfach den Besitzer - von den Römern über Byzanz bis zu den Genuesen, die der Burg ihre heutige Form gaben. Was genau Menschen aus Westitalien hier am Schwarzen Meer verloren hatten, klären wir ein anderes Mal. Später übernahmen die Osmanen die Stadt.
Nach dem kurzen Spaziergang folgt der obligatorische Kaffeehalt. Andi bestellt einen türkischen Kaffee und bekommt ein kleines Kunstwerk serviert - stilvoll, aromatisch und genau so, wie man es sich in der Türkei vorstellt.
Raphael entscheidet sich für einen Iced Coffee. Die Erwartungen sind hoch, serviert wird eine lieblos auf den Tisch geklatschte Getränkedose aus dem Supermarkt. Offenbar gibt es selbst in der türkischen Kaffeekultur Grenzen.
Immerhin war die Aussicht hervorragend.

Amasra may be small, but it has an astonishingly long history. Over the centuries, the port town changed hands several times - from the Romans to the Byzantines and on to the Genoese, who gave the castle its present form. We’ll have to leave it for another time to explain exactly what people from western Italy were doing here on the Black Sea. Later, the Ottomans took over the town.
After a short walk, it’s time for the obligatory coffee break. Andi orders a Turkish coffee and is served a little work of art - stylish, aromatic and exactly as you’d imagine it to be in Turkey.
Raphael opts for an iced coffee. Expectations are high, but what’s served is a supermarket drink can carelessly plonked on the table. Apparently, even Turkish coffee culture has its limits.
