Istanbul: Layover Adventure

In Istanbul verbringen wir nur einen kurzen Layover. Am Nachmittag landen wir auf dem einen Flughafen, am nächsten Morgen geht es vom anderen weiter Richtung Zürich. Unser Hotel liegt deshalb in der Nähe des Abflugflughafens. Dorthin führen entweder ein Shuttlebus in rund 1½ Stunden oder knapp 2½ Stunden mit der Metro.
Andi besteht auf Letzterem. Er wolle schliesslich ein Abenteuer erleben. Es dauert einen Moment, bis Raphael versteht, dass für Andi öffentlicher Verkehr im Urlaub offenbar bereits als Abenteuer gilt. Nun gut - Abenteuer soll er bekommen. Also verbringen wir den Abend in der Metro und belohnen uns danach mit einem ausgezeichneten Döner.

We’re only having a short stopover in Istanbul. We land at one airport in the afternoon and fly on from the other the next morning, heading for Zurich. Our hotel is therefore near the departure airport. You can get there either by shuttle bus in about 1½ hours or by metro in just under 2½ hours.
Andi insists on the latter. After all, he wants to have an adventure. It takes a moment for Raphael to realise that, for Andi, using public transport on holiday apparently counts as an adventure in itself. Well then - he’ll get his adventure. So we spend the evening on the metro and treat ourselves to an excellent döner afterwards.Read more
