    Day1 setup

    May 6, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Had a been a busy week so got up early and packed our gear and loaded up the ponies, hit the road around 11:30 and made our way through town was super busy being Friday and lots of people trying the good old revere park in Main Street laid my hand on the horn once they think you can stop on a two bob bit, anyway was a good run up to the red knob stoped and had a pastie for lunch out of the 12 volt oven was delicious then through Buchan and into the hills and bends passed through Gelantipy and arrived at Wulgulmerang around 2:30, pulled in and thought it would be a good idea to park over near the trees but no that was a bad idea front wheel went down and that was it bogged, called on Simon and the f truck but no luck there so we dragged the caravan off then got a tractor to pull us out, moved to higher ground set up camp, then Jess and Locky rolled in and set up camp with us and we all had a few bevies around the fire with Jamie, Lissy, Clay, Jac and Brenton, red curry and rice for dinners and into bed then the wind really picked up and it blew all night 💨💨Read more

    Day 2 Competition Day

    May 7, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

It was super windy all night and still blowing this morning and the wind was like ice 🧊 Sas and Cal turned up and then Mel and Brent rolled in ready for an 8:30 start, the girls saddled up and I went and set up the PA system and sorted out the judges box, was a bit of a late start and the wind was blowing like a bastard, not a nice day for cattle or horses, Teresa, Sas and Jess did no good in there first run and no good in the avo run and was the same with Teresa, Mel and Custard, but Sas teamed up with Mel and Custard and penned 3 in both runs, they were good runs considering the weather with only 3 teams penning all 6 for the day the cattle were tough and the wind didn’t help.
Finished early around 3 in the avo and fed the ponies then it was drink time around the fire pots and presentation time, Teresa had spent a lot of time this week getting stuff sorted and they managed to win best presented team, Teresa, Sas, Jess then 3rd place in the team penning went to Sas, Mel, Custard was a great effort for Custard’s first crack at team penning, settled in around the fires still blowing and waited for the traditional Wulgulmerang roast dinner and desert which did not disappoint, had a gut full of the wind and went to bed around 8:30 had a great nights sleep as the wind died down over night.

    Day3 Pack up

    May 8, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

Was a better night for sleeping, and the day was much better this morning, cooked up bacon and eggs 🍳 and packed up camp, said our goodbyes to everyone and headed out slowly with a bit a wheel spin, the ground was very soft and we are pretty heavy, if we come in the wet next time we will know where to park, anyway looks like we will be back in November and hopefully will be a nicer weather, hit the road at 9:30 and had a good run down the road stopped at the Red Knob for a quick cuppa and then got home at 12 and unloaded a few things, a big thanks to Alfred and Amy for a great weekend at Wulgulmerang and to Mel, Custard, Sas, Cal, Jess for making it a super weekend and a happy Mother’s Day.Read more
