Bit of a tourist stop of the road from Yuma to Las Vegas. The bridge was built in 1930 and originally spanned the actual River Thames in London, England. By 1962 is was not up to expected traffic capacity and was sold to a Robert P McCulloch who dismantled it and reassembled it on a peninsula in Lake Havasu, a dammed lake on the Colorado River, Arizona! The rebuilt bridge was completed in 1971, then the waterways dug out under it, turning the peninsula into an island with a ready made extremely historic bridge already in place. There is now also a quaint "Olde Englande" village built around the mainland end of the bridge and it is quite the tourist attraction. A fun stop! More story here...Read more
