Ahuahu Falls

In the middle of a crater, this waterfall is fed entirely by rainfall and has never run dry even when there have been months and months without rain thanks to the volcanic rock soaking up the water and keeping the falls supplied.
Wayne also taught us about the Kawakawa plant which has wonderful medicinal properties and treats everything from cuts and scrapes to toothaches and indigestion. It also repels mosquitoes. It's peppery taste (I can attest) also makes it a great addition to foods. Unfortunately, it's qualities are much too strong for the caterpillars that like munching on it and they spend their short lives doped up and eventually die of an overdose.Read more
