Arriving in fog into Christchurch Airport we thought nothing of it. After a swift check-in we sat down hugging our warm coffees. It was then I noticed more and more disgruntled faces around us, my face followed as the AirNZ app updated with - flight delayed. This was an airport that can’t handle fog!

I’d factored in a 6 hour delay but as we finally landed into Auckland the gate for our flight home closed. Marching over to departures there was no desk for Qatar Airways and on walking the offices upstairs no answer on knocking. I was a huffy mess at this point. James rang STA and they became our saviours, booking a flight for the next day and charging taxes only. We booked into a airport hotel and enjoyed an extra night of lazying around.

An apology from the universe came the next day as we queued next to some of the Lion’s team returning to Tonga to see family. Pics were snapped with Taloupe which bought a smile back to my face!
