Chop Gate to Gt Alton

Left the inn and enjoyed the cool morning air as we walked up hill to join the Cleveland track. Thankfully it took a few hours for the haze to burn off so we managed to clock up a good few miles before the full sun caught up with us. We met a semi-local walker and enjoyed his company and local knowledge before he pushed on. Today’s break stops were at tall stones, behind a wall and in the forest. Each providing welcome shade from the sun. On our final descent we came upon a farm shop so stopped for ice creams and another opportunity to remove the boots.
