Saltburn to Runswick Bay

Sat by the sea and had coffee and croissants for breakfast before climbing one of the many step ascents today.
Whilst the views were stunning the temperature was at its highest this week and there was next to no breeze. At each top we took off our boots and socks to cool our feet off and sat smugly appreciating our achievements.
The breeze and shaded areas were a pleasant contrast to the hot sun and many offered opportunities to chat to fellow walkers, many walking sections of the CW but only carrying day sacks.
The descent into Striats was a bit of a surprise as it’s a bustling village with quaint cobbled narrow streets. We didn’t stop here, would probably have struggled to get started again as the only way was up, up and up. Definitely worth a visit by car one day. The final decent brought us to Runswick and the Bay hotel. Here we we’re delighted to have bagged beautifully decorated bedroom, airy and spacious. Laundry now hanging off the four poster to dry as much as possible. Fish dinner awaits 😋. All in all a rewarding dayRead more
