Tricky terrain

​Day 4 of our Mongolian adventure, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned: nothing ever goes as expected here!

​We started the day early: packing up, grabbing breakfast, taking a quick shower, and hitting the road toward our next destination. Drum roll, please... the famous "singing dunes" in the south!

​What a wild journey it turned out to be. We were driving through terrain, rougher and bumpier than anything we've experienced so far. After a chaotic ride (and pretty sure I banged my head against the roof at least twice), our trusty "lowrider" gave up on us, leaving us stranded in the middle of the desert.
Talk about perfect timing! Luckily another tour group rescued us just a few minutes later. Our driver stayed behind in the middle of nowhere to fix the car - what an absolute hero!

​Thanks to the rescue team, we made it to our next accommodation: a lovely nomadic family living right by the dunes. After a warm welcome and a delicious lunch, we were offered to take a ride on thier camels, which was exciting!

​We just finished dinner and are now enjoying great conversations while watching the sunset on the desert horizon. Life's good.Read more
