Day 6: Into the Heart of the Gobi

Today started at 9:00am with a refreshing shower and breakfast alongside the travelers we met yesterday.

After freshening up for the day and getting our energy levels on track, we headed out into the endless going desert, forming a caravan with another group of travelers. Three hours later, we found ourselves at a destroyed tempel in the middle of the Gobi Desert. It must have been a wonderful sight to visit at it's prime. Tragically, like most temples in Mongolia, it was destroyed during the Soviet era under Stalin’s regime.

Afterward, a local souvenir trader invited us to see a showcase of Mongolian history, giving us a lovely glimpse into how nomads lived in the past and how they still live today.

By 8:00pm, we reached our accommodation for the night: another cozy camp just a few kilometers from the ruins.

We spent the evening having great conversations under an amazing looking clear nightsky. Now, just before midnight, it's finally time to hit the bad. We need our rest for tomorrow's journey to the waterfalls, where we'll get to ride horses - we are absolutely thrilled!

    Until tomorrow! ;)
