Day 8, Tomar to Alvaiázere

Day 8, Whew, another PR day for me (Kristi). We walked 20.30 miles, a loooong hot day. We walked through more olive groves and eucalyptus forests. We strolled through some quaint villages with gorgeous houses and floral scents throughout the day. That is all wonderful, but we also endured a lot of road walking and cobblestones, which are very hard on the feet. I kept singing to myself, "Follow the yellow arrows, follow the yellow arrows." Just like Dorothy sang in the Wizard of Oz, follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road. It’s strange, the things that enter your mind when you just allow it to wander. Two highlights of the day: we hiked a bit with a young woman from Germany who is hiking with her dog in her backpack, so cute, and a baby wild boar ran across our path! Little bugger was too quick though, so no photo. Tomorrow will thankfully be a shorter day for us. Czytaj więcej
