    Galle

March 11, 2015 in Sri Lanka

    Galle

January 5, 2017 in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan pre school kids are well mannered. They listen to their teacher attentively. The teacher told the students "smile at the camera". The kids here are truly gorgeous.

In Hikkaduwa I had to visit Tsunami Photo Museum.

    I was speechless.

40,000 people lost their lives in Sri Lanka when the Indian Ocean tsunami struck in 2004. The photographs displayed at the museum tell the stories of the dreadful day. It was extremely sad.

I asked my tuk-tuk driver to stop by the Sea Turtle Hatchery after that. I learned how quickly turtle grow big. The owner takes care of injured turtles and bring them back to the ocean. These cute one day olds will live for 100 years.

The two places are not far from each other. I'm glad that I visited the turtle hatchery after the tsunami museum as seeing baby turtles is sweet and cheering after feeling saddened.

    Galle

September 4, 2017 in Sri Lanka

Traveling all alone is tiring and sometimes boring. The same this time...

The bus transfer was exhausting, noisy and the bus was stuffed with locals. Four hours standing in the bus is not nice. Also no break for peeing. So drinking was not a good idea. I reached Colombo Fort and got the next train to Galle. Again 2.5 hours standing... Meanwhile I drank my first liter of water. Way to less for a hot day in sri lanka.
I chose a hostel a bit outside the city 'cause it looked nice and was cheap as well.
I didn't found the right way and took the tuktuk.

The hostel was nice. The people very kind and the guests all from Germany. Medicine students in their practice year. They were good company and we did many daytrips to unawatuna, Galle Fort, Hikkaduwa and some other places. After almost a week I joined Anni and Luisa to Mirissa. Nathalie, Leonie and Lisa went to mirissa although.
