Sailing on the Seven Seas I

3 Tage, 2 Nächte Segeltour. 😃 Von Bristol Harbour geht es nach Newport, Third Beach. Dort kommen zwei befreundete Familien an Bord für einen kurzen Segeltörn. Wir übernachten auf dem Boot und machen uns am nächsten Tag auf nach Cuttyhunk Island, heisst raus auf den Atlantik. Über das Walky Talky kommen auf dem Kanal der Coast Guard, den alle als Standard eingeschaltet haben sollten, unterschiedlichste Infos rein: irgendwo brennt ein Boot, woanders eine Person über Bord (deswegen sind wir drei am Boot angeleint), einer hat sein Dinghi (Beiboot) verloren, bei einem anderen läuft Wasser in den Motorraum und er, drei Erwachsene und zwei Kinder müssen gerettet werden. Auf Cuttyhunk Island gibt es Eis, Zecken, und man kann sich auch Hummer 🦞 frisch an Board liefern lassen, wenn man ihn nicht fertig an Land Essen will. Die Schule ist 150 Jahre alt und sehr hübsch von aussen. Wie eigentlich alle Häuser dort. Ein paar Bunker aus dem 2. Weltkrieg gibt es dort auch noch.

3 days, 2 nights sailing trip. From Bristol Harbour, we were heading to Newport, Third Beach. There, two families who are friends came on board for a short sailing trip. We spent the night on the boat and the next day we headed to Cuttyhunk Island, which meaned sailing out on the Atlantic. On the Coast Guard channel 16, which everyone should have switched on by default, a wide variety of information comes in via walky-talky: somewhere a boat is on fire, somewhere else a person went overboard (that's why the three of us are tied to the boat), one lost his dinghy, another had water leaked into the engine compartment and he, three adults and two children had to be rescued.
Cuttyhunk Island has ice cream, ticks, and you can also have lobster delivered fresh on board if you don't want to eat it on land. The school is 150 years old and very pretty from the outside. Just like all the houses there. There are also a few bunkers left from World War II.Read more
