New York, Ground Zero & One WTC

Das Museum zu 9/11 ist wieder so ein Ort, wo der Horror die Seele packt, man unheimlich traurig wird und sich fragt, wie Menschen das Menschen antun können. Wertungsfrei. Die wenigen originalen Ausstellungsstücke machen einen einfach fassungslos ob der Dimensionen. Die riesigen massiven Stahlpfeiler, zerknautscht durch mit Menschen beladene Flugzeuge. Das Feuerwehrauto, welches beim Einsturz der Türme wie Plastik zerrissen wurde. Man steht nicht nur im Fundament der Türme, die einfach nicht mehr da sind, sondern auch quasi in einem Massengrab. Bis heute war es abstrakt, aber wenn ich mir bildlich vorstelle, dass Flugzeuge in Reichstag, Fernsehturm und aufs Brandenburger Tor fliegen oder - in Wien - auf Hofburg, Schönbrunn und Steffl, wird mir nochmal ganz anders. Man sieht Downtown Manhattan von so vielen Orten in New York, dass war zweifellos ein unglaublicher Horror für alle hier. New York stand still, Tag Null. Und sie haben es, typisch amerikanisch, danach zu einem Ort gemacht, wo man sieht, dass Leben geht weiter (was zu NY passt), aber vergessen wird nicht.

The 9/11 Museum is again one of those places where the horror grips the soul, you become incredibly sad and wonders how people can do this to other people. Unbiased. The few original exhibits simply stunned by the dimensions. The huge massive steel pillars crushed by airplanes laden with people. The fire truck that was torn like plastic when the towers collapsed. You are not only standing in the now empty foundations of the towers, which are simply not there anymore, but also in a kind of mass grave. Until today it was abstract, but when I imagine that planes are flying in the Reichstag, the television tower and the Brandenburg Gate or - in Vienna - on the Hofburg, Schönbrunn and Steffl, I feel horror. You can see Lower Manhattan from so many places in New York that it was undoubtedly an unbelievable horror for everyone here. New York stood still, day zero. And then, typically American, they turned it into a place where you can see that life goes on (which suits NY), but is not forgotten.Read more
