Hanoi to Sapa

Heute ist in Hanoi eine Art Feiertag. Tag des Lehrers. Aha. Schön. Fast alles, was ich mir anschauen will, ist geschlossen. Also Planänderung: Ich hole mir mir wieder Quarkkuchen und Egg Coffee und als es zu warm wird, setze ich mich in die Hotel Lobby und plane recht effektiv die gesamte Zeit in Kambodscha vor inkl. der nötigen Buchungen. Das Hotelpersonal stattet mich mit Süssigkeiten für die bevorstehende Fahrt nach Sapa aus und aus Spaß wiegen wir uns alle auf der lustigen Waage, die plötzlich auftaucht. Um 21 Uhr werde ich abgeholt und zum Sleeper-Bus gebracht. Wir erwischen ein altes, rumpeliges Modell und so wird das Ganze eher zum Non-Sleeper-Bus. Einer der Momente, in dem es von Vorteil ist, klein zu sein. Schlafen geht trotzdem nicht. So kommt es, dass ich ein nettes Gespräch mit einem anderen Fahrgast führe, morgens um 3:30 Uhr, irgendwo…. in rattiger Gesellschaft. Good Morning, Vietnam! Um 6 Uhr morgens kommen wir in einem kalten, nebligen und dunklen Sapa an. Umsteigen in kleineren Bus und ab zum Hotel im Stadtzentrum. (Da können keine großen Busse fahren). Gepäck abladen, und auf‘s Frühstück warten. Ich ziehe mir alle warmen Sachen an, die ich mithabe. Frühstück wird langsam aufgebaut. Ich plane derweil Laos. Der Tag kann nur besser werden. 🤣

Today is a kind of holiday in Hanoi. „Teacher's Day“. Aha. Nice. Almost everything I wanted to see is closed. So a change of plan: I get myself cheese cake and egg coffee again and go for a stroll. When it got too warm, I sat down in my hotel lobby and planned my entire time in Cambodia quite effectively, including the necessary bookings. The hotel staff supplies me with sweets for the upcoming trip to Sapa and for fun we all weigh ourselves on the funny scales that suddenly appear. I am picked up at 9 p.m. and taken to the sleeper bus. We get an old, rumbling model and so the whole thing becomes more of a non-sleeper bus. One of the times when being small is an advantage. Still can't sleep though. So it happens that I'm having a nice conversation with another passenger, at 3:30 in the morning, somewhere... in rat‘s company. Good morning, Vietnam! At 6am we arrive in a cold, foggy and dark Sapa. Change to a smaller bus and go to the hotel in the city center. (No big buses can drive there). Unloading of the luggage and waiting for breakfast. I put on whatever warm clothes I have with me, it’s freezing. Breakfast is slowly being prepared. Meanwhile I'm planning Laos. The day can only get better. 🤣Read more
