Angkor, Bayon Temple

Für mich der, mhmmm, fotogenste Temple - von außen. Es kommt noch einer, der besser ist, wenn man drinnen steht... Aber egal, ob morgens, mittags, abends, Bayon lockt dir immer die Kamera bzw. das Handy aus der Tasche. Der Bayon Tempel liegt innerhalb von Angkor Thom und war der Staatstempel von König Jayavarman VII. (Regentschaft 1181 bis ca. 1218), der den Buddhismus als neuen Staatskult einführte. Er ist auf drei Terassen eingeteilt, geht also auch in die Höhe. Er hatte wohl einmal 50 Türme, jetzt nur noch 37. Auch hier haben die Thais versucht, ihn wegzutragen. Allerdings wurde der Tempel auch nicht so präzise wie Angkor Wat gebaut. Der König erließ das Gebot, 100 Tempel in einer gewissen Zeit fertigzustellen, was natürlich zu Pfusch führte. Jeder Turm hat die 4 lächelnden Buddhagesichter, welche in die 4 Himmelsrichtungen blicken. Der zentrale Turm ist 43m hoch. Wenn man in einem drin steht, hofft man nur, dass er noch ein bisschen durchhält. Bis man halt wieder draußen ist. Die Decke sieht schon etwas löchrig aus. Zusätzlich beeindruckt der Bayon mit 4 großartig erhaltenen Wandreliefs. Diese stellen buddhistische und hinduistische Motive und Ereignisse dar, Alltagsleben und Schlachten. Man brauch eine Erklärung, um da einzusteigen, aber wunderschön gearbeitet.
