      Yearn after Tjörn

      September 8, 2023 in Sweden ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Before leaving smögen that morning we went on our first swim in the sea. Our van was parket right at a spot where you could easily get into the water and apparently some locals knew that to, therefore we were not the only ones waking ourselves up in the cold water.
The plan was to drive away from smögen to see Orust and Tjörn and then go a bit further until arriving at a camping about 30 mins from Göteborg. The road first led us to a tiny harbour where we stopped, took a ferry called Neptunus and stayed at the other side where we had a small breakfast and observed the water which was full of fish, jellyfish and shrimps. Afterwards we drove over Orust to Tjörn and saw landscapes that really blew our minds. We got up some hills where we had an awesome view over hundreds of small islands with forests which extended all the way to the sea. Additionally we stopped at two villages at the sea, one prettier than the other, decorated by its white houses with the read roofs and the rocky shores nearby.
In Skärhamn we went into a fish shop and bought salmon which we later cooked for dinner AND salmon nuggets, which I already knew (and loved) from my time in canada. They weren‘t exactly the same but tasted as good as the canadian ones. The camping we went to in the evening was a big one with many people, especially families with children, but also permanent „residents“ whose campers stayed there all season long. It was alright for one night even though I personally prefer sleeping somewhere surrounded by nature. The thoughts behind our night stop there was to be able to wash our towels, which after the sauna started having a quite unpleasant smell. Next to where we parked was a small hike which led to a very beautiful view. We hiked up and went back to start cooking our salmon I had been excited for all day. At first Nene pointed out I had left it too raw but shortly after he admitted that it was very tasty. After cleaning we visited to women from Switzerland, Doris and Rita, who had invited us to their camper for a glass of wine when we had tried to park earlier. We had started talking because they had heard us asking ourselves about the direction in which we should park the van. Anyways we went to their small and cozy camper which actually was a pick up truck which had been converted in a small cabin to live in. We talked for a long time and they told us about several travels they had done, from journeys in southern america to trips through the sahara. It was very interesting and the wine was excellent too:)
(Sorry for probably a couple of spelling and grammar mistakes, sweden is so pretty and exciting that I barely have time to write this blog;))

      Eine kleine 4h Wanderung 😜

      May 22, 2023 in Sweden ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Martin mag wandern ja nicht 😄Read more
