• Heading back to my temporary home

    October 31, 2022 in Denmark ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

We are heading back to Brussels this morning after a lovely week in Copenhagen. We arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 9am and so our host Anna arranged to meet us at 8.45 to carry our bags (much heavier than when we arrived!) down the 3 flights of stairs for us.

Although we loved Copenhagen we found that the young Danes liked to party hard, loud and late and as we were living right in the centre there was some noise to contend with. Most of the time it was ok but there were a couple of occasions where it was difficult. We didn’t realise how much the Danes liked to drink but each morning down our street there were the remnants of their partying.

Our taxi ride to the airport was very quick and check in was also quick and easy. I had planned to claim back the tax on some items but discovered I can’t do that until I leave the EU - so I will have to see if I can do it at Brussels MIDI where I will catch the Eurostar to London.

Once we got through security we found a lovely restaurant and had brunch. We then wandered around the airport waiting for our flight to be allocated a gate. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed 50 minutes due to a truck at Brussels airport hitting the plane and so it couldn’t leave until an engineer gave the all clear.

Finally we were on our way, our flight was quick and uneventful and we were at the baggage carousel in no time, only to see on the board that our luggage was ‘delayed’. So we had to wait about 30 minutes for it to come out and we weren’t provided with any explanation.

Steph picked us up and then we had a quiet night before I headed to bed even before Brigitte, which is unheard of for me.
