• Singapore zoo

    12. februar, Singapore ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

We were scared of the weather forecast so just in case these were the only two days of good weather we got, went to the zoo. Potentially dodgy tickets from trip.com thankfully worked out -- They were a bit too cheap. Breakfast at tanjong pagar Plaza again. Chicken rice was surprisingly good. Carrot cake was average. Kaya toast from stall yesterday was better.

The zoo itself was okay but a bit dated and very large. It was also quite hard to see the animals in some of the exhibits because they were on the far side and the exhibits tended to be quite overgrown. Remi sort of enjoyed it -- she would see an animal and then say more more to tell us to show her the next one but then she kind of fell asleep through the animal presentation which was quite funny because it was quite loud.

The macaques are a real problem because they target prams. We didn't realise the diaper bag was open under our stroller at first and a macaque nabbed a half eaten pack (but zipped locked) of freeze dried apple from it. We closed everything after that but still got harassed a few more times -- jumped up on me though thankfully it didn't hurt (I was wearing a dress) and swiped at Danny's leg while he was carrying Remi. (We had her walking for a bit but didn't dare to after the first macaque encounter) When he shooed at it it bared its teeth at him! Keepers had to tell stupid guests not to touch them. We spoke to a keeper and he said they are wild and not part of the collection, they are a problem but not much they can do about them except sometimes catch, sterilise, and release.

Not sure I'd recommend it, I think Taronga is better but I'm biased haha.

Dinner and satay supper from Khatib central again.
