      Day at Sea

      October 24, 2023, Ionian Sea ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

Had a quiet day at sea … cruising from the Aegean to the Med and up to the Adriatic.

We spent the day relaxing … in my case, on the veranda most of the day … until it became bathed by the sun. It was a good day to process photos and draft up footprints for the past two days so that I can upload them when we get to Kotor tomorrow.

Mui went to the art class mid-morning … “Creating Designs from Doodles: Bookmarks.” It was a “simple class,” but it helped to pass time. He’s looking forward to the watercolor classes promised by the instructor.

We wrapped up the day with dinner in the Vista Dining Room, followed by tonight’s show on the Main Stage … featuring Cantaré, a quartet of guys from the USA.

At Sea: The Sole of Italy’s Boot

      October 26, 2023, Ionian Sea ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

We are currently sailing under Italy’s boot on our way to the Strait of Messina. Just starting to make the turn up from the toe of Italy’s boot.

Close enough to get a data signal from shore … thanks to our T-Mobile plan.

(Sorry about any wobbles in the video. It is fairly windy along the railing of the Promenade Deck.)

      Anreise auf Peloponnes

      April 24, Ionian Sea ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Read more

      Scarlet night

      May 13, Ionian Sea ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Red dress up tonight. We started early with a red cocktail in the Bar. Listened to some convoluted love story about an octopus and a sailor. Both of whom came to a watery in but the legend of scarlet night was born apparently.

Acrobats, bands, karaoke, great dancers and a pool party finished off the night.

      Day at sea.

      May 14, Ionian Sea ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

We have a day at sea today, next port of call is Dubrovnik so lots of motoring to get there. Late start for us and a chance to catch up on blogs, emails, messages etc etc.

They have Bingo with the diva this afternoon, sounded like fun so we all signed up for that. Marl is out for the count today, the dreaded purge has taken her down. Hope a day of rest is all she needs.
Wow the bingo was popular, huge lineup waiting to get in, thought we might have missed out but it’s quite a big theatre. The Diva was entertaining, and so was the bingo. They played four rounds with increasing difficulty. I came close a couple of times but no cigar. Some big prizes were up for grabs though. $3500 was the biggest.

Blue shirt dinner this evening with the whole mob. Then we had booked a Karaoke room but a bit of missed communication, it wasn’t open tonight so we had to retire to the bar and finish our bottles of champagne, wine and ouzo. We rebooked n a few days time, hopefully better luck them.

It was nice to have a sea day but I’m looking forward to getting off the boat and seeing something different today.

      Athens

      May 16, Ionian Sea ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

This was by far the busiest place we have visited. The traffic itself was an experience and tool so long to get to our stops.

I’m also really surprised at the density of buildings. Athens city itself is not a nice city with graffiti everywhere and run down buildings.

Our first stop was The Acropolis. It is so amazing to see, in real life, places that have only ever existed in textbooks before now.

The age of these structures is mind boggling - dating back to 447 BC. A few other tourists also visited today, the crowds were incredible.

We managed to get lots of photos and totally enjoyed the experience.

We then drove to the Olympic stadium where the first modern Olympics was held. The sandstone stadium was amazing.

The Athenian Museum of archaeology had some fascinating artefacts dating back to thousands of years BC. It would have been even better if we had’ve had a guide who didn’t keep wandering off. We spent half the time trying to locate him.

We had free time in Plaka which was a delight! Another afternoon of wandering and almost getting lost. We decided to complete our Greek adventure with a carafe of ouzo!!

Back on the ship we put on our whites for white night and danced the night away

      Antipaxos - Lefkas

      June 2, Ionian Sea ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C
