Putre to Tapaca volcano

Putre is a small village at an altitude of about 3500 mts. It is the main village in this region and works as a base for excursions into the altiplano. There are 4-5 tour operators here but most tours are booked and started elsewhere. All of them stop here for the night and also to acclimatize.
From here, we drove towards the Tapaca volcano on the way to Suri Plaza up in the altiplano. The altitude steadily increased as we reached the base of Tapaca. We were almost 5000 mts there.Read more
