• Chamber of straw formations

    At the end of the slight climb within the cave was a bigger chamber with many beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. There were even limestone straw formations on the roof. This is a very rare formation and takes hundreds of thousands of years and just the right conditions of humidity and air circulation for it to form. Of the 30 odd caves I've been in, I've never seen this before. Generally these are very deep inside the caves where there is no wind and so it normally occurs in chambers that are separated from the cave entrances by stretches of water fully covering the cave path all the way to the top.Read more
