  • Cabañas Correcaminos

    20. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Baño Morales is a very small village of about 15 huts. The 1st one we saw when we entered the village was Cabañas Correcaminos. There were people staying there and highly recommended staying in the place. One of them called the place's owners. They had a vacant cabaña for 4 people and it cost us 50000 CLP total. Each cabaña had a sitout with a barbeque place. All of our neighbors were out cooking on the BBQ and singing and chatting. It was a great atmosphere. They even had a kitchen in the cabaña and a small shop just behind the cabañas to buy the groceries, charcoal etc.
We went to the shop and bought some food stuff for the dinner. After that we cooked some spaghetti and ate it inside on the dining table in the cabaña. The drinks were outside under the star. It was amazing. There were millions of stars and it looked amazing with the profile of the mountains in the foreground. Damn, I missed my proper camera now. 😔

  • Start of the San Francisco glacier trek

    21. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

We woke up around 9 am and checked out by 10:30 am. We left our bags in the car and went to the shop. Our hostel owner had told us that sometimes the shop owner can make fried eggs for breakfast, so we went to check with him. They had not opened when we reached so we called out to them and they agreed to open the shop for us. They also agreed to make eggs and coffee for us.
We also convinced them to cook some egg pies with vegetables for our lunch/dinner when we come back from the trek. By the time we finished the breakfast, it was 11:45 am and the El Morado National Monument closed for entries at 12 pm. We hurried over to the entrance and started the trek just in time. It was very nice and green around us, much different than the kind of treks we have been doing in the altiplano. It was quite hot in the sun. The views around were stunning.

  • Flora El Morado National Monument

    21. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

The trek had a rich variety of flora. There were flowers of every hue amd color. Tge contrast of the colors with the greens was stunning. It was an ideallic location with warm and sunny under the sun but a light cool breeze cooling the body and swinging the flowers around. The 1st 30-40 minutes was a gentle but constant climb up the mountain.Les mer

  • San Francisco glacier

    21. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ 🌙 -5 °C

After trekking another 40 min, we reached the end of the trek beyond which it is not allowed to pass without a guide and proper equipment. The glacier has retreated quite a bit and whatever is left of it, had melted off. We didn't see any part of it from the end point of the trek. We stopped there for a while before starting our trek back at around 4 pm.Les mer

  • Termas Valle de Colinas

    21. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ 🌙 -5 °C

About a 2.5 hour drive from Santiago, at the foot of the San José volcano, at an elevation of about 8,000 feet are the eight different pale blue pools of the hotsprings, which have been channeled away from their source with different mixes of cool water, to make for comfortable soaking. The waters contain several types of minerals including magnesium and calcium that are said to have curative properties. The pools towards the top are warmer around 55C than the ones below with the last one of them around 28C.

People believe in UFO activity here, but even if you’re a nonbeliever, the skies here are stunning both during the day, with sharp peaks against bright blue skies or at night, when on a clear night, with no light pollution, the stars shine bright.

  • The night at Termas Colinas

    21. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ 🌙 -5 °C

We got into the pools at around 8:15 pm. It was late in the evening and the sun was setting behind the mountains. As the sun started going down, it started getting colder. We started moving towards the upper pools. The moon came out by around 9:30 pm it was quite dark. The stars were amazing. We could see billions of them in the clear and dark mountain air. There was a nip in the air but the warmth of the hot pools compensated it. It was absolutely magical. A must do for everyone at least once in your lifetime. Interesting, the moon set within 30-40 min of rising and it became even more darker.
We left the place around 11 pm. It was pitch dark with no lights anywhere nearby. We started our drive back towards Santiago.

  • Off to Valparaiso

    22. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We reached Santiago early in the morning. On the way, we had booked a place in Le Louvre hotel in Santiago. We arrived at 2 am and slept off. The breakfast was till 11 am and we managed to make it just in time for it. The plan for the day was to go to Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. The free tour at Valparaiso starts at 3 pm and we wanted to make it before that. I had also messaged Alexandra about our plan so we could meet her there.
We started a bit late and barely made it to Valparaiso by 3:05 pm. We directly parked the car in one of the parkings near the main plaza from where the tour was supposed to start. By the time we came out of the parking at around 3:15 pm, tge tour had already left, but we had the tour itinerary and we followed it quickly and managed to catch them when they were about to go up one of the funicular. The city till now had looked very hep with a lot of beautiful graffiti and a lot of hippies smoking weed openly.

  • We are not hippies but happies

    22. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Our guide explained that there were 3 ways to get graffiti on Valparaiso walls. Sometime people invite artists to paint on their house walls, pay them but then the artists are responsible for maintaining it and keeping it clean and interesting. Another option is some artists requesting and getting an approval to paint the walls of their neighbors. The 3rd way is the sneaky illegal way where artists paint illegally at night.Les mer

  • Piano stairs

    22. desember 2017, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We also saw the piano stairs that were painted in memory of a music teacher who used to teach music free to the poor children of the city. One of his students started painting the stairs but he was caught when he was halfway through. He was doing it illegal without permission. He was put in jail for the night. On coming out he explained about the teacher and wanted permission to complete it. The city council granted him permission after which he completed the painting.Les mer
