Some more pictures of the Condors. We were there at Cruz del Condor for about 2 hours. Watching, enjoying and taking pictures of the graceful birds. It was truly fascinating.

The path though not very steep was quite a long distance and the very high altitude made the progress slow and hard. On the way, we had the rare sighting of the Andean dear.

The geothermal area near geyser

We did the 9 kms trek in about 2.5 hours. Not a bad feat considering that all the 9 kms were above 4000 mts above sea level.

More mud pots and fumeroles

We climbed down into the canyon and went close to the geyser. It was a beautiful natural phenomenon that captivated us for quite sometime. We got some very nice close up pictures of the geyser.

We just couldn't have enough of it. It was a fabulous place and the constant blowing sound and continuous shooting of the steam and hot water kept us hypnotized for quite many minutes.

I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich with lemonade and Hristo ordered a fruit salad with lemonade. After the food, we paid for the hot springs and went down.
Llahuar Hot Springs

Views on way to Chivay

On the return journey towards Chivay, the Colca Canyon continued along the road, providing some stunning views.
At Maca

The beautiful views contained along the road. We reached the small village of Maca at around 3 pm. The bus stopped for a while here to drop and pick up people before moving on.
Off from Chivay

Another hour later at 4 pm, we reached Chivay. This is a big village. Tge bus stopped here for about 15 min before moving on.
Llamas and Alpacas on the way

An hour from Chivay, we reached a pass. On one side of the pass were wetlands (boefdals), the ideal place for llamas and alpacas and sure enough, there were heards of them grazing in the marshland.
