• Termites and waterfalls

    July 4, 2017 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

What a big day we have had! We went to Litchfield National Park and it was so hot. Really hot. Hard to believe it's winter here!! So some of the walking was hard work but it was amazing to see big beautiful waterfalls. In the forest we saw and heard lots of very noisy bats. We saw some huge amazing termite mounds that were 3 times bigger than people. The little termites build the towers with air pockets to cool their underground homes. There were black landscapes with fresh green growth, from the Aborigines burning off the land. Our favourite part of the day was swimming in a waterhole with a waterfall. We could swim right under the waterfall like a bath and shower all at once. So refreshing! And not a crocodile in sight. Let's sleep well tonight.Read more
