Exploring Grange-Over-Sands

Today we did a hike around High Dam Tarn, and enjoyed our first English Sunday roast.

We started our day with coffees at home, and then drove to High Dam Tarn which is a tarn(or small body of water) north of Grange-Over-Sands. We hiked to the lake and around the perimeter, and the dogs and family had a great time.

Following the hike, we drove to a local pub for a n English Sunday roast. This is a traditional meal consisting of roast beef on top of roasted potatoes with gravy, vegetables, and Yorkshire pudding. We all LOVED this dish and the time with family reminiscing.

After our Sunday roast we headed back to the house to relax and cook dinner. Before cooking we drove to a nearby town Kendal to grocery shop, and got a ton of groceries for the week.

After grocery shopping a number of us went down to the coast and explored the wet sands stretching out from the coastline. Because this area is an estuary, there is a ton of wet sand(almost as far as you can see), with small rivers running through it. Quicksand is actually an issue here, and there are lots of warning signs. We carefully enjoyed walking on the sand, and slightly sinking into it, before heading back to the house.

We all enjoyed an evening at home, and called it a night with more exploration tomorrow!Read more
