Faroe Islands Arrival

Today we left Iceland and traveled to the Faroe Islands, visiting the Múlafossur waterfall and Trøllkonufingur (Witch's Finger).

We started our day with breakfast and coffee at the hotel, before heading to the airport. We had a quick and uneventful flight to the Faroe Islands(although landing was a turbulent affair, with how windy the islands are!). Once we’d landed we picked up our rental car, and headed to our first stop, Múlafossur waterfall.

The waterfall was situated by a small town covered in grass roofs, and it was positioned in a valley hemmed in by massive mountains. To add to the locations mystique, there were huge islands off the coast as well. All in all this was a beautiful spot, and we were fortunate to catch it when a massive rainbow was forming from the ocean to the falls. We enjoyed the falls for a good long while, and walked through the nearby village of Gásadalur, before heading on.

Our next stop was the town of Sandavágur, and a hike to the nearby Trøllkonufingur (Witch's Finger) rock formation. This was a long walk on the coast taking us to a rock jutting straight upwards that did indeed look like a witch’s finger. It was cool to see, but the area was so windy that we got out of there pretty quick(Chris lost his hat twice!).

To end the night we headed to our Airbnb in the capital city of Tórshavn, where we went grocery shopping and had home cooked Thai curry for dinner.Read more
