    Gjógv, Tjørnuvík, Hvíthamar hike

    Today we visited the towns of Gjógv & Tjørnuvík and hiked Hvíthamar mountain.

    We started our day with breakfast and coffee at the Airbnb, and then hit the road to our first stop, Gjógv. This was a super cute town built along a gorge heading into the ocean, and we hiked up above the town for excellent views.

    Next we stopped at the Fossá waterfall, which was a waterfall staggered over two steep drops. It was pretty neat, but not quite the scale of the falls we’d been seeing in Iceland!

    Our next stop was the town of Tjørnuvík, which was another cute town, this time set back in a fjord. We hiked above the town for views, and then out past it so we could look back at the town and see the valley it was set in. The town had a very picturesque black sand beach we enjoyed as well.

    Our last stop of the day was the Hvíthamar mountain, which we hiked up for views of the surrounding fjords and steep mountains. The sunset over this area was jaw dropping!
