Saksun Black Sand Beach Hike

Today we hiked to the black sand beach outside of Saksun, and had a fancy dinner in downtown Torshavn.

We started our day with breakfast and coffee at the Airbnb, before heading out to Saksun as soon as we were able to beat the tide. We arrived in Saksun and started our hike to the nearby black sand beach, which is accessed at the end of a tidal river and is only accessible at low tide(unless you want to swim!).

We hiked along the river and through a narrow canyon hemmed by beautiful green mountains until we reached the picturesque black sand beach and the ocean. In addition to the mountains, there were multiple waterfalls running into the river, so the whole place felt incredibly idyllic. We enjoyed the beach, took some photos, and then hiked back out.

After enjoying the black sand beach we spent the afternoon at our Airbnb working on trip planning, and then headed out into downtown Torshavn for dinner. We opted for a five course Scandinavian restaurant that had incredible local food that we really enjoyed. Afterwards we packed up, as tomorrow we head to Norway! Czytaj więcej
