    Scenic drive to Odda

    Today we traveled to Odda via scenic drive, in preparation for our via ferrata climb up Trolltunga.

    We started our day with breakfast at our hotel, and then hit the road for a long scenic drive. Norway is a very scenic country, filled with expansive fjords, massive mountains, and countless waterfalls, so there was a TON to look at!

    Our first stop was Ostasteidn Viewpoint, which had a massive natural rock that you could climb for views of the surrounding mountains and the nearby fjord.

    Our next stop was Ropeid, which was a peninsula with a large glass building built into the mountainside that served as a rest stop. From here we had excellent views of the fjord.

    Next we visited Svandalsfossen waterfall, which was a large waterfall with multiple plateaus. We were able to hike to the top, which gave us good views and a sense for the waterfalls power(as it was quite loud and got us very wet!)

    Our next location was Allmannajuvet, which was an abandoned zinc mine that is now used as a museum and cafe area. The buildings here were built in an industrial construction style that was super neat; essentially the buildings were built on stilts fastened to the sides of natural boulders.

    Our final stop was Låtefossen, which was another neat waterfall that was right alongside the road(so an easy stop).

    Finally we ended the night in Odda, where we cooked dinner at our Airbnb, and visited a briefing at a nearby hotel for our upcoming via ferrata tomorrow!    Read more
