    Murren Via Ferrata

    Today we hiked the Murren Via Ferrata and took the scenic train to Schynige Platte where we hiked the Schynige Platte Panorama Trail.

    We started our day with breakfast and coffee at our hotel, where we enjoyed the same Rösti potato dish from last night for breakfast. It was much better as a breakfast food, especially being included in the hotel cost!

    After breakfast we drove to Lauterbrunnen where we caught the gondola up to Murren. Murren was a super cute town, occupying the top of the mountain. We rented via ferrata gear and headed down from the town onto the trail, where we started a very cool via ferata. This via ferata had a ton of downhill climbing, and then a ton of sideways climbing across the rock face, affording amazing views of the valley below. Following this we crossed a number of very unique cable suspension bridges, all the while enjoying paragliders zooming past.

    Once we completed the via ferata we took the cable car back down and drove to Wilderswil where we took the scenic train to Schynige Platte. This was a massive alpine meadow at the top of the mountain with absolutely amazing views, and we enjoyed a 1.5 mile hike exploring part of the Schynige Platte Panorama Trail. From here we could see Interlaken and the two lakes hemming it in from above, which was really incredible.

    After enjoying the plateau we trained back down the mountain and drove to Interlaken for a fondue dinner. We had all you can eat cheese fondue, followed by all you can eat chocolate fondue for dessert.. we earned it!!    Read more
