• Vang Vieng

    January 10, 2020 in Laos

Arriving in Vang Vieng, I was immediately lost again as I had no wi-fi. I asked some of the other passengers if they could search my hotel for me. They kindly did, and it seemed to be a bit of a walk away from the main town but it was a very high-end hotel that I booked since it was my birthday. It was almost a 20 minute walk until I arrived at the hotel. The Vietnamese concierge, Tom, gave me my keys and agreed to give me a ride back in town to exchange some money so I dropped off my stuff and went with him. Coming back, I also booked some tours for the next day.

I spent the rest of the day just relaxing in my room, texting with Janelle. Some hot air balloons started to fly above the town as well, I also accidentally locked myself out of the room and got another extra set of keys. Eventually, we had a huge fight as she felt I was leaving her just go traveling. On hindsight, she was right but at that time I was very angry that she chose to pull this off on my birthday and pretty much ruined the whole day. At night, I decided to head into town to buy some magic mushrooms from one of the restaurants with a "happy" menu. They were dried and I ate a bunch but they flopped and didn't work, I also ate some happy pizza as well and also thought they didn't work. In the middle of the night, they hit me hard and I straight up panicked just because I was getting too high. After I calmed down, getting some outside air. I went back to sleep still very buzzed.
