Koh Mak: In the grip of typhoon Wipha

Wenn wir gewusst hätten, was auf uns zukam, wären wir wahrscheinlich auf dem Festland geblieben. Der tropische Wirbelsturm "Wipha", der die Region der Ha Long Bucht in Nordvietnam, am schlimmsten getroffen hatte, hielt mit seinen Ausläufern die gesamte südostasiatische Region in Atem. Es gab sogar ganz offizielle Warnungen aufs Handy über das Katastrophenwarnsystem. Für uns bedeutete es vor allem, dass wir viel Wind und Regen hatten, sowie die ganz reale Unsicherheit, ob wir es pünktlich nach Bangkok zu Bens Heimflug schaffen würden.

If we had known before, we might have stayed on the mainland. Typhoon 'Wipha', which had hit the region around Ha Long Bay the hardest, wreaked havoc with its tail ends in almost all of Southeast Asia. We even received official government disaster warnings over the mobile information system. For us individually it meant mostly that we had to deal with strong winds and heavy rain as well as the very real threat of not being able to reach Bangkok in time for Ben's flight home.Leggi altro
