    Early start and another birthday!

July 25, 2015 in the United Kingdom

About an hour ago we all began to get up and prepare for the first part of our long journey to Japan. First up; a bus journey from Cardiff to Heathrow airport.
Everyone is in their uniforms and we look very smart as a unit (even if we do say so ourselves!)
Croissants for breakfast followed by packing away our over night bags and another chorus of Happy Birthday. This time it's Georgia's birthday and we had a surprise visit from her mum with cake for everyone. Happy birthday Georgia!
Now a quick uniform check and then onto the bus for the first section of our journey.
    Japan, we're coming!

    Bayden Scout Hall

July 24, 2015 in the United Kingdom

We're all together at our meeting point and after some final checks and preparations and lots of pizza we're now practicing our party pieces for Japan with the help of Seb's parents. We can't give away our secret ideas just yet but all will be revealed in a few days time when we perform in Japan!
Today we've also had our first of many Jamboree birthdays. Gwyn had a lovely rendition of Happy Birthday sung to him by the unit whilst he unwrapped a special gift from everyone. Happy birthday Gwyn!
The adventure really has begun now and with an early start in the morning, we wish you all good night!

    The Whoniverse

October 14, 2016 in the United Kingdom

I can't make up my mind as to whether I like Cardiff or not. It's not a huge city - 350,000 and quite compact. I'm not sure whether the area I am staying in (by the main train station) is seedy or not but it is central.
I started off with the hop on hop off tour. There is a stop conveniently close by.
I got off partway at The Doctor Who Experience. I am a huge Doctor Who fan especially Doctors 9 and 10 so this was a no brainer.
It starts with the "experience" in which you go through a journey with the twelfth Doctor. I won't say much here as they prefer it not to be spoilt but it was fun. I helped to save the universe.
There is an exhibition of various costumes in which I had a good browse through. All up I was there for several hours.

From there I walked across to Mermaid Quay for some lunch and took a look at the Ianto Jones memorial and the Millennium Centre. I met another Torchwood fan who was there with his friend who just didn't get it, he would rather be in the pub than look for the water tower.

I caught the bus back and then went down St Mary st which I thought was meant to be the shopping precent but it was all bars, backpackers and not much else.
I got back to the hotel just before five intending to go and do some washing but discovered the laundromat closed at 6 so watched a movie instead. I eventually went across the road for some dinner and have been catching up on my TripAdvisor reviews.

    Brecon Beacons Nationalpark

August 7 in the United Kingdom

    Taff Trail begins

September 18, 2016 in the United Kingdom

Like some sort of foolhardy adventurer I was off into the unknown deepest darkest Wales, starting at Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff Bay. Only 50 miles to do today, over some of Wales' finest hills, and with knees not quite recovered from the Lake District leg of the coast to coast walk. Better get going then...Read more
