      Ware

      July 17, 2020 in England ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Leaving Lincoln we travelled to Ware in Hertfordshire, where we had arranged a camping weekend with Stewart and his family. We arrived at Westmill Farm, Three Lakes a little before them and found a good spot in the camping field - away from three school groups who were booked in for the wekend. This was a very interesting site with many attractions for children including high ropes, lake obstacle course, football golf, mini golf etc. We will meet the family here often whan the children are old enough to enjoy the attractions.
Soon after Stewart had set up his tent we went for a walk leaving K to watch over a sleeping Mary whilst completing prep for the evening meal. Magnus greatly enjoyed the freedom to charge around the site on his bike -practising his skids coming off the grass slopes. Jemima enjoyed big cuddles with Granny and Grandpa Mac and was eager to a share bunny with us. Mary smiled, watching the commotion unflustered.
We enjoyed a very happy family reunion. It was so lovely to get together after 6/7 months.

      Ware

      July 18, 2020 in England ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We enjoyed good weather on Saturday so we stayed on the site - taking a long walk around the lakes. Plenty of fishing activity on the fishing lakes, and the school parties were enjoying themselves on the adventure playground. Plenty of geese to contend with around the lakes - Magnus spotted two clutches of duck eggs in the undergrowth - no sign of ducks to incubate them though.
Stewart pitched off into Ware to get some tennis balls and we all enjoyed a few games of cricket in the afternoon sunshine. We enjoyed a sea bass bbq in the evening. Of course we had to share a bottle or 2 of fizz!!! We taught Jemima the game of "big pop", which basically involves chasing the cork as it bursts out of the bottle!!!! She'll be able to compete with her cousins and brother now when we next all get together.
Sunday breakfast was eaten in the van, as there was a cover of drizzle - scrambled egg and bacon enjoyed by all. Soon after the sun returned to the sky and we repeated our walks around the lakes and played some more cricket prior to making our fond farewells in the afternoon.
