Onderweg naar Rinsey Cove kwamen we bij toeval (omdat we verkeerd reden) langs Helston Gunsmith die een heel aantal indrukwekkende tanks heeft staan op zijn parkeerplaats.

Dagje strand, zwemmen in de zee en rotsen klauteren bij prachtige strand van Rinsey Cove / Porthcew.
Indrukwekkende ruige zee, rotsen, kliffen en inhammen langs de kust waar je mooi langs kunt klauteren. Boven de kliffen loopt het Southwest Coast Path. Daar staat
De kinderen waren uren zoet met mooie stenen zoeken en de inhammen te onderzoeken.
Voor Sandy een grote uitdaging om langs de rotsen naar beneden te klauteren.

Ook staat er daar de Wheal Propser Tin Mine engine house welke slechts van 1860 tot 1866 operationeel was.

In de avond zijn Jelte en ik nog even gaan wandelen om enkele schachten van de voormalige mijnen te vinden. Die hebben we inderdaad gevonden maar de stijle diepen schschten waren goed afgezet en waren ook onder water gelopen.

Ik lig de footprint vanuit bed te schrijven. Sandy is nog even douchen in de hoop dat haar voeten warm blijven... en ik moest haar bedsokken alvast opwarmen in mijn slaapzak. Volgend jaar moet er een kruik mee... zucht...Read more

Penzance and praa sands

4 hours and We drove straight into Penzance. After a stressful 20mins while we sussed out were to go we got down on the beach and let the kids wild and took in the breath taking beauty of St Michaels Mount in the back drop.
We then headed off to our caravan a little apprehensive as the most recent reviws hadn't been great but was greated by a lovely caravan on a friendly sight 15min walk to the beach. Perfect.
After unloading the car and a quick dinner we headed straight to the beach and watched the sun go down a magical end to a fantastic start to our holiday.Read more

Beach day

Today was a hot one, so after a slow start we trundled down to the beach picking up the essential bucket and spade as we went. We had the best time, Olivia created some amazing beach art and dug holes, neither of the girls liked the sea but me and matt loved swimming in the cristal clear sea. Once the tide went out the girls enjoyed playing dams on the water edge. Headed back at 5 and enjoyed a fish and chip super.
Olivia has requested a second beach day tomorrow.Read more

Marazion beach

One of the reasons I booked this part of Cornwall was because of St Michael's Mount a place iv wanted to go to for years and it didn't disappoint, we had a beach day at Marazion beach over looking the mount and it was just breath takingly beautiful, the kids loved the beach as the sea was really shallow and warm and perfect sand to make sand castles. Penzance and chill

Today we were up early and ventured to Penzance to sus our were we needed to go and parking for our trip to scilly on Wednesday ekk. We had a lovely conrnish pasty 😋😋. We then headed back to the campsite for swimming which were wernt going to be late for after the dramatics of dinner at the boat house the day before 🙄🙄 the kids loved swimming in the baby pool and me and matt loved a trip into the hot tub and sauna 😍 then we went back for the caravan for a snooze 😂😂 holidaying is hard work lol. St ives

I was so excited to go to St Ives and it was just so disappointing, this beautiful small fishing town is over run with 1000s of people and cars and is just people herding around, there is very few places to eat and that it was stressful trying to get food for the girls anyway, after grabbing a pasty and a quick look at the harbour we headed to porthmeor beach which was beautiful and not as busy, the girls loved it and really enjoyed getting the bus back to the car park. The day started off drizzly, so after watching all available rugby matches, we pootled around the locality. St Ives promised much, but the nearest available parking space was in St Ives. Unfortunately, the St Ives in Cambridgeshire...

We tried to do a dog walk along the beach near St Michael's Mount but the car park man said 1. the causeway was shut due to high tide and 2. dogs weren't allowed on the beach. We had been pootling for a while and Bonce was getting desperate so in frustration I called the cark park man a Bad Name. Twice. He still wouldn't let us walk on the beach and now we cant go back there again in case he recognises me.

But, just as the sun came out, we discovered Praa Sands where dogs were allowed into the beachside pub and they served the largest portions of onion rings we have ever encountered, as well as superb spicy beanburgers, so we'll be going back there!

And then we came home and didn't need any dinner and fell asleep in the rather pleasant electric reclining chairs.Read more
