    • Day 7

      Pitch 7

      June 6, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

A campsite?! Bay view farm, probably time for the first wash of the trip. The woman running this place is completely nuts, she ranted at me about random things for like 15 minutes. Anyway time for some rest, my feet are absolutely destroyed, seriously need my shoes to dry out completely tonight. Will be turning my phone off now to save some battery.

    • Day 811

      Looe, Cornwall

      August 12, 2020 in England ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

A short hop along the coast to Looe. Arriving early we settled into our site above the town, then wandered down to spend the afternoon reading our books in the sunshine on the beach. The town was busy but not over crowded. The campsite is very well managed during these strange times of social distancing, and we have decided to use the communal facilities as we feel there is no danger of getting too close to anyone else in there. A system using bands placed in sanitising fluid outside the facilities seems to work extremely well - you are only allowed inside if there is a band available which you take in with you. This limits the number of people inside at any given time. Indeed all of the campsites we have visited so far have used a similar system, which is so reassuring when you are trying to stay away from others.
Rain forcast for day 2 so we packed a bag and set of walking down to Millendreath and then followed th south west coastal path into Looe. By the time we got there the sun was breaking through the clouds and the beach was starting to be populated. We grabbed a sandwich - Cornish Seaside Special - from a take away stall which we saw had a big queue - and were not disappointed. We didn't have to fend off the seagulls from the prawns, crab and smoked salmon as they were more eager to grab the bait from the many crabing nets that families were using on the harbourside.
The River was very busy with boats coming in and going out - fishing trips and sight seeing tours.
Day 3 was forecast to be wet with thunder and lightning so we planned a chilling day at the site. Karen did some patchwork and Alan went for a walk camera in hand. The rain and thunder seems to have pased us by.
      Fizz Friday too, happy days.
