Grand Gorge - aber wo ist die Schlucht?

Jetzt wissen wir es ganz genau: Die kleinen Orte 'trocknen aus'... Die jungen Menschen wandern ab und die Restaurants und Cafés machen dicht.. 🙈
Trotzdem haben wir gemütlich im Colonial Motel gewohnt, haben leckersten Beeren-Pie im Nachbarort genascht, Betsy sich auf 18 Loch ausgetobt (der Schlägersatz war zusammengestückelt und geschätzte 20 Jahre alt 🙈🤪) und im einzigen (!) Restaurant — ein Pizza Plus Laden — 2x gespeist 🤷‍♀️

Franklin KOA

Today we did nothing but relax at the KOA. It was a cute KOA, with our tent site being right next to a little pond. The KOA was mostly RV's and had permanent campers as well. This KOA was not close to the highway and therefore was quieter than most of the KOA's we stayed at.

The day consisted of lying in the shade, playing bocce ball, playing mancala, basketball, and anything to keep the kids entertained. Brandon even made friends with the owners and we got to paddle boat in the pond.

That night the kids watched a movie in the rec room and after that we a fire and Smores and watched the fireflies. This was our last night camping on this trip.Read more

Wow, you've done so well camping all those nights with 2 little ones. You're a tough mudder lady. I'll bet you'll be happy not to put the tent up for a while though. Enjoy your last nights xo

Drive to Franklin, NY

This morning started with Elisa attending a fitness class with Aunty Claire and Brandon sleeping till 10am, the latest yet of this trip and more than a 12 hour sleep.

We left rainy Rockport,saying goodbye to the MacCrate familu, just after noon and headed to the closest Costco to eat a quick lunch and to buy Kirkland liquor. We have heard many good reviews of Costco name brand liquor and as we always bring liquor home, we thought we would try this.

After Costco we had a 6 hour drive to Franklin,NY where we we are having our last camping trip in this adventure. We have 2 nights booked at KOA in Onenata.

We made it to the campsite before 7pm, quickly put the tent up and headed back East 20 min to the closest town for dinner. We ate at Applebees and then a stop at the grocery store so we had food for the next day at the campsite .Read more

Another beautiful drive in New York

Made it to our next 2 night destination - Gilbert Lake State Park

Walked around Otsego Lake and Cooperstown tonight before going to Hall of Fame in the morning.
Neat town with lots of historical buildings and homes...and of course lots of baseball memorabilia ⚾️Read more

Detour to see SNOW

The forecast didn't call for snow during our visit so I decided to take a detour to find some snow. Detoured into the Catskill mountains to a ski resort. Yes, there was plenty of snow. We even stopped along the way while it was still daylight and had a snowball fight.Read more
