Botanical Gardens

The morning was spent sorting out the next few steps on our journey, booking flights and sorting out a few nights accomodation etc

In the afternoon we went to the Botanical Gardens, which is free on a Wednesday, in the Bronx where we did a walking tour through the Thaine Family's forest trail. Our guide took us along Native American hunting trails and we saw marks left by glaciers, and passed under trees dating back to the American Revolution. The unique beauty and ecological importance of the forest are one of the reasons why the founders selected this site for The New York Botanical Garden in 1895, which is based on Kew Gardens in London. The trees were on the verge of turning but weren't quite ready for fall unfortunately but it was still really gorgeous.

We stayed in the gardens till about 5pm and Then headed home for a quite pasta and movie night in preparation for the next few days of madness!Les mer

Altra bellissima giornata, perfetta per il Botanical Garden.C'era una mostra di Frida Kahlo, c'erano bellissimi giardini e fiori.
Poi siamo andati a The Met Cloisters che è un luogo fuori dal tempo e dallo spazio. Potresti essere in Italia con la sua storia medievale invece sei a New York.
Stavolta abbiamo preso il bus e ci siamo persi nel Bronx. Non mi funzionava più il cellulare e avevo la sensazione che avessimo superato la nostra fermata quindi siamo scesi.
Abbiamo preso un bus a caso e scesi a Fordham, immersi nella folla e nei negozi. Poi il cellulare è ripartito e siamo andati Inwood.
E tornati. Ancora una volta stanchi ma felici. Anche sul viaggio di ritorno in bus è stato bello perché era strapieno di gente ma sono riuscita a sedermi e a fare conversazione con una signora di Co-Op City che era stata in Italia e amava viaggiare.Les mer
