    Cape Perpetua

September 30, 2015 in the United States

Aaron was really excited to see Thor's Well, so we timed our arrival at Cape Perpetua to catch all the action at high tide. After yet again taking our loaded bikes on an "accessible" walking path, and checking out the Devil's Churn and Spouting Horn, we joined him to watch the "well" fill and empty with every wave. Watching the ocean work is always humbling and mesmerizing so we hung out for a couple hours in the hot sun taking in the view, and saw a few whales off shore as well. To top off the day Alana, an old friend of Holly's from Whitehorse, and her husband Pete and their lil' tyke happened to be in the area also on tour, so they stopped at the campsite and we got to visit over wine and cheese!Read more

    Giant Spruce

November 20, 2015 in the United States

I talked to the ranger and he suggested I hike out to see this 600 year giant spruce tree that I could sit inside of. I got there and yup it's huge. I totally sat inside. Took my selfie since I was the only person out there. It was cool beans.

    Cape Perpetua

November 20, 2015 in the United States

I drove to the top because the ranger said it was the best view, and he was right. He said if there were any whales to see, at the tides you could only see the spray, but at the top you could see them coming. Very nice and cold.

  • Day109

    Devil's Churn

November 20, 2015 in the United States

I went to the other side of the tide pools and got to see the sky start to change colors. Also the trees looked liked they had been permanently attacked by the wind. This dude wasn't as much fun. Not as much climbing involved.

    Tide pools

November 20, 2015 in the United States

My friend John suggested I check out the tide pools. It was the most fun I had on the west coast thus far. Between seeing the ocean again and climbing all over the rocks, I was having a blast. I thought I was getting super lucky getting closer to the waves until I got soaked head to toe. Even That was fun, tho a bit chilly after a while.

    Cape Perpetua

July 5, 2015 in the United States

The ever changing weather patterns at Cape Perpetua on the Oregon coast. Devil's Churn is a neat spot where the waves churn against the rocks. The best view on the Oregon coast at 800 feet above was covered with fog.
