• The Golden Circle

    A cold and cloudy day for my Golden Circle tour but scenery still very dramatic to see, the highlight being the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall. As with many places in Iceland, visitors can get right to the edge of the falls with not much to stop you going over the edge other than a single rope fence. Standing on the edge of a powerful waterfall is one my favourite places to be, and great views from the higher viewing point looking down into the gorge. The Geysir hot springs area was a little less dramatic for me after having seen Old Faithful in Yellowstone, but the bleakness of the area added to the atmosphere as the geysirs spurted briefly but frequently.Læs mere
