Trip to Rotorua

First day of a two day trip to Rotorua and Waitomo glowworm caves. Three hour drive to the caves through the countryside, blue skies, hazy hills in the distance. Took a very dark boat ride through the caves, which actually looked a bit like a film set rather than a natural cave, to view the ceiling lit up by glow worms. An impressive, but rather short, ride. Felt like I'd just been on a Disney ride somehow. Two more hours on the bus before reaching Rotorua,a beautiful little town, but with an ever present sulphur smell. We viewed the bubbling mud pools and geysirs, and walked along pathways with steam drifting across us. Also had a Maori dance show which was interesting but just a little bit too long. I really feel like I'm in New Zealand now. Checked in at the Holiday Inn for a night's stay.En savoir plus
