Lovely out of the way village with a small beach but extremely narrow steep road to access and no parking for a vehicle as big as the van so moved on.

Caught the boat over to this RSPB reserve. Amazing wildlife and a wonderful peaceful place. Saw Choughs, Wheatears as well as seals and a school of Porpoises. Spent the day surrounded by sweet smelling heather pollen.Read more

Cycled from Goodwick to Fishguard and had a look round the Farmer's Market, craft shops, family butchers and organic fruit and veg shop. Went canoeing the next day and came within 10m of a seal lounging on a fisher's box float, paddled into caves and under arches, beautiful views of the coastline from the water!Read more
Catherine FoulkesMy fathers mother and her family came from here - Dinas and Strumble Head. Cousins still there. Love the rock breaking through the thin soil and the scrubby grass. It feels like coming home when I go back.

Dee Estuary RSPB Reserve

Saw hundreds of Oyster Catchers, lots of Shell Ducks, Little Egrets, Curlews and Cormorants on the Salt Marsh from the hide along the sea wall. Massive holiday park and big gas refinery?
Catherine FoulkesJust spent 3 days on the salt marshes and salt pans of ilê de Ré. Cycling along and suddenly a mist of herons and cormorants - and gulls too rise in a blizzard in front of us. Stunning.

Conwy RSPB reserve

Reserve is by the estuary overlooking Conwy Castle. Friendly staff who advised us on the best telescope to get. We ended up buying another tripod too (see the kit in the photo). Great quality telescope enabled us to see loads including Beautiful lapwings, Bar Tailed Godwits, Tufted Ducks and Dunlins.Read more

RSPB reserve on Holy Island. Great cliff walks but we arrived just after the majority of birds had migrated away. We did see Choughs close up and a baby Fulmar on its nest through the scope. Stayed overnight and looked at the old stone hut remains in the morning.Read more

'Wild and wonderful' RSPB reserve. Parked up and wandered through reedbed and pond habitats. Spotted lots of butterflies (Peacock, Small Copper and Common Blue) and different kinds of duck (Tufted Duck, Pochard & Scaup).Read more
