Atmospheric River Weekend

A rest and relax weekend, pouring rain for most of it. So we decided to check out the accommodations. Seems very homey. Hot tub, fireplace. I'm a bit disappointed there's no pool or gym but oh well. To be fair there is some exercise equipment around, but it's rather dusty.

I got to my book club meeting that I thought I'd miss, a delayed discussion of last months book The Art Thief. Definitely recommend! We meet at the Blacksmith Bakery in Fort Langley, which I also can recommend 😊

The car started making a weird loud sound on my way home. So Brad's spontaneous activity was tightening up loose lug nuts on the tire.

Its so enjoyable having time to relax, it makes such a difference not having that pressure to fit life in around chores. Today I went to an open free access day at the BC genealogical society in Surrey while Brad played pickleball.

Met some really nice people, and found a few records to add. I love how people that are into family history search just immediately understand. They know brick walls, and they absolutely get the thrill of finding your ancestors on paper. They offer courses here so that's something to consider and of course, always looking for volunteers for indexing.

The society planning a group trip to Salt Lake City next year. As someone remarked, Muslims go to Mecca, genealogists go to Salt Lake City. 😂

We also got a house exchange request to Portugal, in the Duoro Valley. We really enjoyed our brief trip there, so we'll take a few days to consider this proposal for 2026.Lue lisää
